Even the president of the most self-prided country, The America, admitted that India is following a better Democracy than them. I am afraid it’s been tarnished now and then.
1* Look at the recent incidents of Anti-Reservation Acts; water, tear-gases and lathi charges were brought into play against guiltless Students. They were protesting non-violently, showing their basic rights, the dissatisfaction against community specific reservation quotas. Students followed the path of the greats like Mahatma Gandhi who used powerful weapon called “non-violence” which resulted independent nation from the dominant British rulers.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t change the minds of self-profited politicians. I don’t have any personal views on the reservation issue itself, but a peaceful demonstration never had to be responded like this.
2* Another incident took place in TamilNadu when Actress Kushboo conferred a statement about pre-marital safe sex. Publicity yearning politicians blown the issue to such an extent that even well established are afraid to speak for a good cause. These moral policing stunts are done just for mere self conceit -ness and displayed a kind of dictatorship.
People should remember that Tamilians built a ‘Temple’ for the same actress around a decade ago. Where were these politicians then? Is it not a disgrace to the entire society of Tamil speaking people?
Majority of the people in southern India think sex education is a crime. The fact is youngsters are aping western culture but without the proper knowledge. Only through media we can create awareness and prevent sexual transmitted diseases like AIDS. Politicians again prevented installing condom vending machines saying that 3000 year ancient society will not allow such an act. If we look into the facts TN is also one of the leading in number of HIV +ve patients. Although we can argue that STD cannot be transmitted through only one means, but it is the major reason of rapid spreading of this disease.
Yes, we are living in the unique, oldest culture existed ever but world is changing so are the people. We know “changes are the only permanent thing in this world”. If we are afraid to accept the change, we need to face the consequences.
3* Actor Amir Khan’s statement on NDA- Narmada Bachao Andolan was transformed into political issue.
If Amir Khan has insulted the people of Gujaratis; as BJP claims, people of Gujarat should avoid watching the movie “FANAA”-Amir starred. In a democratic country it is possible for the people to protest against any movie which disrespects their feelings. But an act of threaten to multiplexes & cinema halls is not the exact way to achieve it. Again I don’t have any personal idea about the statement he made.
Where is the right to speak? ; Governed by Indian constitutional law. Laws are in the hands of Political parties. Before 1947 we were ruled by Brits; after 1947, by a bunch of egoist leaders. Overpowering and violence never achieved anything in the History. People should be awake and let go the immoral political parties, who don’t have any respect of our constituency and should be exile from the government permanently. Wish there would a change in political thoughts of the people in the future. After 15 or 20 years people would have reached a great length of awareness and exposure so that they would be careful in choosing a party to rule.
