My father was my secret mentor. He never openly appreciated any of my achievements which forced me to put more effort to impress him all the time. Less, he showed his love towards me more I wanted it.
Flipping back my childhood days, once i nearly ran away from home. My dad found me on the road and took me back and showed all the anger on my mom. That was the day I realized his secret affection towards me.
I used to take his advice on traveling as he was a skilled navigator will get us the shortest path even for the new places. I learnt how to respect & treat friends from the way he handled.
One day I returned from home with scratches and blood clots all over my body. On inquiring I told my dad that I was beaten up by bunch of school bullies. He didn't say anything then. Later he joined me in a local gym, the most important day in my life where I learnt most valuable lessons of life about health and staying fitness.
Again he never approved whatever my biceps size are or weights I lift, the reason which pushed me beyond my limits to make him appreciate. But I came to know it indirectly when he asks whenever I miss exercises.
Whenever I get 1st marks he used take me to movies. That was untold agreement between us. We even acted as college guys when buying tickets for 1st day show. It was different phase after my 10 th results were out.I scored 90% which made my dad happier than my sister who got 92% with state ranks. From that day he was a changed man towards me. I should say I earned the respect I was yearning for a very long time. We had heated arguments, fights etc., on many occasions
Dad fell ill during last few years of his life. He should be expecting me to take a great of care of his only possession, my mom.
